Black Belt Profiles

Name: Andy Pugh

Current Grade: 2nd Dan and qualified instructor

Training Club: Streetly – Walmley – Four Oaks

TKD Achievements:
After reaching black belt 1st Dan in Tae Kwon Do 15 Years ago, I decided to go back to white belt and repeat the whole experience again in 2006. This was to help and support my two boys reach black belt level too. I would say my biggest achievement would be reaching my goal again with my eldest son Alex. I am now 2nd Dan and still training.

In my opinion this style is the best of all that I have learned including Karate, Kick Boxing and Tae Kwon Do and I would recommend it to everyone. Not only for the increased fitness levels and excellent fighting techniques you learn, but for the great club atmosphere and team building it brings. All this is implemented extremely well by the excellent instructors at Sutton TKD. I have also made some good friends over the years who I will keep in contact with for years to come.

Over the last 4 ½ years I have won Student of the Year Dec 2010 (Streetly Club) and have won 9 medals at the Bytomic Tournaments. Silver & 2 x Bronze in 2007, Gold, Silver & Bronze in 2008, and 3 x Gold in 2009. I am also very proud of achieving ‘A’ pass level at every grading from white belt to Black.

Future Goals:
My Next goal is to reach 2nd Dan and then continue on as long as possible. I would also like to pass on my experience to others especially in competition fighting and patterns. Also I am very keen to learn the coaching side wherever possible. To this end I have qualified as an instructor on May 14th 2014.
